Margaret Sangers Writings on Abortion - A Little Childs Right to Live

Margaret Sanger's Writings on Abortion - 'A Little Child's Right to Live''Of all the paper topics that are available to me in the world today, none is more powerful than abortion. Abortion is a controversial topic in my country; the arguments on both sides of the issue seem to grow more heated.' -- Margaret Sanger (1903-1955)Sanger wrote that in an article she wrote for an anti-abortion group. She and other leaders of Planned Parenthood, Inc. were considered radicals, but Sanger went on to found a branch of Planned Parenthood in the United States called the Birth Control Review, which published articles with themes similar to hers. The only exception was that this organization published and sent to women in the Third World the material she was using for the Abortion Topics.Margaret Sanger's Writings on Abortion are extraordinary because of their realism. Her writings on abortion are powerful pieces of poetry in the language of one who experienced the consequences of the abortifacient , in the depth of her experience of abortion. Sanger's personal and professional experience in the arena of women's rights began with the conception of the notion of the right to an abortion. Sanger also had been an advocate of birth control until she found out that contraception was being sold as a means of abortion. The result was that Margaret Sanger opened her eyes to the power of the mind and body in a woman's health and control of reproduction.'The necessity of perfecting knowledge of the female functions is beyond question... that most women in a non-natural state are ignorant of the means of regulating their emotions and keeping their passions in subjection...' -- Margaret Sanger, 'Ladies' Home Journal'Margaret Sanger wrote, 'Few people know that birth control methods, such as breast feeding, can be very beneficial to the woman who has overcome the desire to have a child.' This is a radical statement considering that women have been practicing artificial birth control for ma ny years now. However, Margaret Sanger, was a leader of Planned Parenthood, an organization that changed the face of the woman's health, giving birth control to the world.'Birth control is most important to the well-being of all of us. It is a basic need and we cannot live without it.'Margaret Sanger's writings on birth control and abortion are quite amazing. The impact of these writings had on her was astounding. For example, Margaret Sanger was the first person to scientifically prove that there are physiological differences between women who have given birth and those who had not given birth.'The difference between the conditions of life that exist in the women who give birth and those who do not, is greater than what exists between the condition of life that exists in the mothers and their children. The mothers who give birth to their children have more emotional control than their childless contemporaries.' -- Margaret Sanger (1904-1955)
